My design process always commences with an extensive exploration of my client's requirements, preferences, and lifestyle. Through in-depth discussions, I strive to unearth their vision and aspirations for the space. Collaborative brainstorming sessions are integral, allowing us to delve into various concepts, themes, and design elements. This ensures that each client's individuality is seamlessly woven into the fabric of the design.

What is your philosophy when it comes to designing interior spaces, and how do you balance aesthetic appeal with practical functionality?

Each design serves as a bespoke reflection of my client's personality and lifestyle. By immersing myself in understanding their needs, preferences, and aspirations, I aim to create spaces that resonate on a deeply personal level. However, I firmly believe that true innovation lies in the ability to adapt and customise these trends to suit the unique characteristics of each project. By carefully integrating elements of contemporary design while staying true to my own aesthetic sensibilities, I strive to create spaces that are not only visually captivating but also deeply resonant with the personalities and lifestyles of my clients. This approach allows me to maintain a balance between staying current with industry developments and preserving the distinctiveness of my design style, resulting in truly bespoke and memorable spaces for my clients to enjoy.

How do you collaborate with other professionals, such as consultants or contractors, to ensure a seamless design and construction process? 

Early involvement of consultants and contractors in the project planning phase is paramount. By including them from the outset, we can collectively address potential issues, align on project goals, and establish a shared vision for the design and construction process. This collaborative approach fosters open communication, facilitates problem-solving, and ensures a seamless and efficient execution of the project from start to finish.

Does your work allow you to practice sustainability, and if so, how do you incorporate sustainability and eco-friendliness into your designs, and why is this important to you and/or your firm?

Sustainability is at the heart of my design ethos. I believe in creating spaces that not only inspire and delight but also leave a positive impact on the environment. To achieve this, I integrate sustainable practices into every aspect of my design process. This includes sourcing materials that are environmentally friendly and ethically produced, prioritising energy-efficient systems and appliances, and implementing innovative solutions that minimise waste and promote eco-conscious living.

How do you handle challenges that arise during the design process, such as unexpected setbacks or client requests that may conflict with your vision?

I believe in maintaining open communication and transparency, addressing unexpected setbacks with honesty and clear explanations to the client or project team. Collaboration is key in problem-solving; involving clients, consultants, and stakeholders ensures diverse perspectives contribute to finding creative solutions aligned with project goals. When facing conflicting client requests, I educate them on design principles, aiming for a middle ground that satisfies both parties. Maintaining a positive attitude is crucial; I remain optimistic and focused on finding solutions, inspiring confidence in clients and team members alike.

What advice would you give to aspiring interior designers/architects, and how can they develop their own unique style and approach to the field?

As an interior designer, we should first cultivate a deep understanding of our own design sensibilities and interests. Explore various styles, techniques, and historical influences to identify what resonates most with you personally. Remember that developing your own unique style takes time and dedication; be open to experimentation and don't be afraid to take risks.
