The Santuary

Through the use of strategic lighting and furnishing, this maisonette was transformed into a rustic, colonial-themed home with a modern touch. The house's allure is noticeable before one walks through the front doors. A sculpted water feature sits in the corridor, its flowing waters a sign of prosperity and abundance. This executive maisonette was designed with the colours of nature, with green plants acting as a gentle contrast to the brown furnishing. At the homeowner’s request, a guest room was built on the first floor. This room has a murphy bed that folds neatly into the walls when not in use, harmoniously combining comfort and space. Separating the kitchen and living hall is a gorgeous fish tank with an in-built filtration system. The tank is seamlessly integrated into the wooden walls, and includes a hidden storage space beneath it. Its clear glass and calm waters add an otherworldly touch to the rustic theme of the home, creating the atmosphere of a serene lake. As you ascend the stairs, more elements of nature appear, including a self-watering plant wall with UV lighting. This automation adds a modern touch to the rustic theme, and allows the plants to prosper by themselves. The master bedroom is concealed by a feature wall designed to resemble a colonial panel, which retains the rustic vibe while adding a touch of privacy. The 2 bedrooms were rebuilt into 3, each large enough to hold a super single bed, plenty of wardrobe space, and a study table. With careful thought put into every step of the design, this home is more than a place to stay; it is a place to live.
