Accordion Apartment

The Accordion Apartment gets its name from being a modern interpretation of the flexible communal home. In converting the ubiquitous 4-room BTO public housing flat in Singapore, walls were removed and spaces redefined with the insertion of furniture and partitions; creating flexible zones that fit many different permutations. The accordion partition walls we created function to delineate the private and public functions of the home by creating pockets of segmentation for more privacy or openness for larger gatherings.
